Dr. Sama serves as the founding Chief Executive Officer of Progressive Emergency Physicians. Prior to serving as the CEO of Progressive, Dr. Sama was primarily affiliated with the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. He initiated the Department of Emergency Medicine at North Shore University Hospital and assisted in the creation of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Emergency Medicine Service Line in which Dr. Sama led over 300 physicians, fellows, and residents throughout 16 locations. During his tenure with the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, Dr. Sama was the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Group.

Dr. Sama has been a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) for more than 25 years. In October 2007, he was elected to the Board of Directors of National ACEP and re-elected in 2010. He served as the Secretary-Treasurer of ACEP from 2009-2010, Vice President from 2010-2011, President-elect from 2011-2012, President from 2012-2013 and Chairman of the Board from 2013-2014. Currently, Dr. Sama and his fellow leaders of Progressive have assembled a team of highly talented physicians and mid-level providers to provide Progressive’s patients with the highest quality and excellence in emergency medicine.
