Dr. Robert Wagner is a dedicated and proven healthcare leader who is focused on improving the health of patients and communities through innovation. Dr. Wagner has worked with multiple clients building end-to-end clinical revenue cycle solutions including medical necessity compliance, denials management, coding and billing, clinical documentation improvement, care and utilization management, denials and appeals, practice management, physician advisory services and physician leadership.

He has unique ability to work across both small and large healthcare organizations building consensus to integrate IT, Coding, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, Informatics and Care and Utilization Management to provide sound clinical, operational and financial outcomes. Dr. Wagner ensures that providers, executives, operations personnel and support departments have appropriate access to high level clinical expertise and advisement, so that each can achieve their individual and organizational objectives.

Before joining MedData as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, he was a Partner in the Consulting Services Division at Schumacher Clinical Partners (SCP). Dr. Wagner was the first Chief Medical Information Officer for SCP managing clinical documentation, clinical denials, physician education and the interface with technology across 250 clinical sites for over 4 million providers. Prior to his role as CMIO, Dr. Wagner led the Care Management Division of the Schumacher Group, building and developing a virtual care management and physician advisor program and managing medical necessity compliance across multiple organizations and payers.

Dr. Wagner has served as Chief Medical Officer at a leading revenue cycle management and population health solutions company. He led the Physician Advisory Service managing all aspects of the clinical revenue cycle. Dr. Wagner is a practicing, residency-trained, board certified, Emergency Physician with over 25 years of experience in Emergency Medicine including roles as Medical Director in both large academic and community hospitals serving both adult and pediatric patients. He has served in various leadership roles and on various committees as well as a clinical instructor for both the Georgia and Florida Colleges of Emergency Physicians.
